When you become a mom, no one tells you anything that you need to know. It's on you to figure it out from the start. From what to read, to what to buy, to what to expect and what to do with this tiny newborn sitting in your arms. As 1st time moms, we we're unprepared, overwhelmed and zero clue what we were doing the entire time.
We found that the best advice came from other moms - women who had been through it before us, passing on what they had learned so that we could know first hand what to expect and what to do. The internet is great, but its overwhelming. Books are great, but they often miss a lot of the details. But moms...they will tell you like it is. Give you ever gory detail you can imagine. And not judge you for one second when you make a mistake (because you will make many).
